July 30: IWAOU DEWA NAI KA!

yesterday was the second day of VBS. suprisingly, all the kids were starting to get used to us by the time we had dinner on our first night! By the time breakfast rolled around, the kids came and found us. they were really comfortable with us and us with them. the girls tended to hold hands or invite us to sit and talk with them while the boys would bond with richie and shun through wrestling. the team got along so well with the kids that it seemed like we had known each other for a while, not just a day. you couldnt even sense the language barrier between the team and the kids. like althoguh the kids think we are there to teach them about god, i felt that it was the other way around. the purity of these children really just made me melt. i wish you could all just hang out with them for even an hour. towards the end of the day, richie would tell me he wants to bring them all home with them and that he wanted not one but all. to be honest i dont really want to leave them either.

we had free time at the yamanakako lake where the mission team lead a few games. luckily it was a nice day and the sun was beaming. there, joanne lead a few games to teach the kids some english. we played the game "what time is it mr. fox?" and "ghost tag". by the time we finished we were all drenched in sweat. luckily there was a thing called a lake just a few feet in front so we went to soak our feet and have fun. the boys started to splash each other and the girls would daringly go farther and farther out into the lake. a few of the girls got drenched and by the end... so was shun. oh, the greatest part was shun's little fan club. he had like 3 or 4 girls around him and they would try to dunk him in the lake and hang around him afterwards. it was really quite cute. after alll that we finally walked home to a nice japanese style barbeque.

it was epic. like we each got a skewer with sausages, green bell peppers, eggplant, and chicken which we smoke cooked on the fire. there were also rice balls, tonjiru (pork soup), corn on the cob, and potatoes. then after they had freshwater rainbow trout which was super good. and then there was sashimi grade squid -which joanne even tried (for those of us who dont know what joannes dislikes in terms of food, seafood is definantly a big one)!!!!! oh my goodness!!! no wayyyy! right? well you probably wanted to see that.... lucky for you i got the whole thing of tape. yes yes yes! you can thank me later cuz i'll upload it for you. :) . o and then they made an unbelievably large thing of yakisoba. it was sooooo goood. i only wish i had the apetite of nobu-sensei. like he jusst kept eating. and eating and eating. oh and desert was watermelon. richie and shun spit the seeds at me but oh well.

after that we had a skit competition. dude just so you know, shun and joanne and i's group deserved to win. like ours was so great. if i can find a video i'd upload it. it was that good. but we got second place.... none the less it was fun. team flower angels won first place and team happy won second place, and you can do the math for the third place winner. then they gave a mvp prize for the person who showed great effort and it was given to kouhei (team happy...yessssss!) and yurino (i got to admit she was good). oh and joanne for her role as the father in the skit that the mission team put on (which was too good to pass up). if you were wondering where the title of this post came from, it was the line that made joanieann's part. it wasn't really what she said but more like how she said it. it was so funny i just had to.
by the time it was time to sleep, the staff had a meeting. and the kids were definantly still up. they were suposed to be silent and fast asleep, if you didn't know. and well they were up for quite a while.... no suprises there hahah

i knew the camp was ending and i wished it wasnt so. i was really excited to see god working with these kids and just witnessing it alone was a blessing.

oh and if you wanted to see how comfy the kids were with us.... this is kensuke. his cheeks are like mochi. and the random fact of the day is: kensuke really likes Michael Jackson and he's pretty good at imitating him :]

so after working very hard to upload joanne into the bllog i gave up. its like 10:30 and i've been wanting to sleep for like 2 hours so i'm beat. and well u'll just kinda have ta wait. sorry :(
